tin cans

Hi Readers!  It's December!  Wow, this year went fast. Well I've been making tin can lanterns for family for Christmas. ( and if you happen to be a family member whose reading this, well, oops!)  But they're really cool!

First take tin cans and fill them to the top with water.
Then freeze them.

Then take a nail and a hammer and your can.
You might want to set it on towels so that when
the ice melts it won't get every thing wet.

Then decide what design you're going to
pound into it. Put the nail in the place you
you want it and then pound the nail a little of
the way in. Repeat until the design is done.

Then use hot water to melt the ice.
Put a candle in it, and enjoy!!

Ornaments

Hi readers!  I made these awesome flower ornaments out of egg carton and cardboard. It's a craft from the magazine Family Fun. They where supposed to be made out of scrapbook paper but we didn't have any. To glue them I used my hot glue gun. For the center you're supposed to use a fake gem but I used buttons instead.  They're supposed to be used as jewelry but they also work great  as ornaments.

This is as far as I know the largest cheese sculpture
in the world. The record was set by Cheez - It.
(Photo from worldrecordacademy.com)

My pole has been closed forever but at last here are the results. Blue cheese has 1, Pepper jack has 1, Gouda has 2, and Cheddar with a grand total of 3 votes is our winner!  Personally I like Cheddar quite a bit. Though I do enjoy blue cheese.

Recycle

Saint Gorge and the dragon, and cardboard!
Hi readers!  I am sorry it took me so long to do a new post.  Today I'm going to talk about recycling.  A lot of people think that recycling is not a very big deal.  But it is!!!!!  Because if we don't recycle eventually the world will just be a big heaping pile of garbage!  Soooo many people don't realize how much they could help the earth!!!  So that's why I'm telling you that you can help!  A lot!!  What if every one who read this blog recycled ten things or picked up ten pieces of trash then told someone else to do the same. Then they told someone else who told someone else who told someone else and eventually we have a whole continent recycling!
See, look at that recycling!
Also, I have the awaited cheese poll for those of you in Wisconsin!

Apples!

It's finally fall!!!!  I can wear jeans again!!!!  I can rake leaves again!!!!!  I can go outside and not be sweating after the first five minutes!!!  It's great!!!!  In short I love fall.  I was born in fall so it's in my veins to love it.  Apples are a big part of fall.  It's sort of like a law that you have to go to the store and by a big bag of Apples in fall.  It's a tradition in our family that every year for my birthday we go to an apple orchard.  It started when my parents took me for my first birthday and we've done it almost every year since.  I love apples and carmel, apple pie, apple popcorn, Apple Betty.  But surprisingly I don't love eating whole apples!
YUM!!!!

Non Sequitur

Today school started and for writing I wrote this story.  The title is "Non Sequitur."

I was in the kitchen listening to my favorite song when I heard a knock on the door.  When I opened it I saw my dad grilling hot dogs.  I looked down.  I was standing on an elephants head.  My best friend rode by on a lion.  I waved then I fell of my elephants head and started walking to the ice-cream shop.  I got there on Friday.  Wow, I thought.  I'm going to get high lights in my hair.  I walked into the middle of the forest and got into the elevator. I pressed the tenth button and got out at mars and started running into the crayon store.  I purchased a trampoline and ran to the waiting room of the dentist office.  The tomato leaves shook in the wind.  It made no sense, I love gummy bears! Hurry eat your kid fish oil!  Now go perform in the circus!  I gobbled up my hot dog.  A leaf blew past.  then lots of leaves.  I spun like a tornado with the leaves. When we stopped, I ran for the bus stop.

food

Hi!  Today I'm going to talk about food!  Here are some of the weird foods I've tried:
                                                                                                                     sushi
                                                                                                              roasted cow heart
                                                                                                             dried seaweed

Sushi is made of raw fish, seaweed, rice and other types of fish and other stuff.  Sushi is one of my favorite foods. For my ninth birthday I had sushi with one of my friends.

Roasted cow heart actually tastes like roast beef.  One day I was at my home school co-op when my best friend's mom asked me if I wanted to try roasted cow heart.  So I said sure!  So that's how I came to eat roasted cow heart!

Dried seaweed looks like green paper and is really salty.  My Uncle likes to shop at Asian food stores so he for Christmas sent us these dried seaweed packets.  No one in my family liked them except me so I ended up eating most of them!

Please try new foods because I've tried a lot of new foods and I'm not dead.

This is sushi
There are only two days left to vote on the poll so vote now!  Tell me what weird foods you've tried!

bottle caps

Hi readers!  Its the end of summer!  So you won't have as much time on your hands as you used to!  But I still have some great easy weekend crafts you can do!  First we'll start with easy bottle cap gifts. What you need:
hot glue gun
beads
bottle caps
flat work surface
tweezers
First take the bottle cap and fill it with hot glue.   Then using tweezers press beads into the glue.   Let dry. You can use these as desk toppers or you can attach magnets to the back and stick them on the fridge.  So far on my poll blue is winning.  Also I encourage you to recycle!
In these I put the word beads in first and then I cover them in hot glue and press in the beads.
